As
a citizen with an interest in providing quality service for my tax
dollars, I am asking you to please review your position on an important
issue. The State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission Medical
Transportation Program is currently seeking input on how it will
continue to contract Non-Emergency Medical Transportation for Medicaid
clients. Since summer, HHSC MTP has been using a "Full-Risk Broker"
model that has already generated in excess of 6,000 service complaints.
However, HHSC is considering continuing this seriously flawed model. As
a supporter of local and community-based transportation providers, I
believe that HHSC model options 3 (TSAP Enhancement) and 4 (Regional
Transportation Partnership) offer better service and a better use of
taxpayer funds.
